The Department of Languages, Cultures & Applied Linguistics has partnered with CMU-Q to offer a six-week study abroad program in Doha, Qatar.
Doha
Doha, Qatar, is a dynamic and rapidly growing city that blends rich cultural heritage with modern innovation. As a global hub in the Middle East, Doha offers students a unique opportunity to study in a diverse, international environment at Carnegie Mellon University's satelite campus. Academic Information
Students will take 21 units of academic credit: one 12-unit Arabic language course and one 9-unit culture course, taught by CMU faculty.
Accommodations
Students will stay in a on-campus housing in Doha for the duration of the program.
Travel & Transportation
Students are responsible for their airfare to and from the airport in Doha. Transit between the airport and the program site in Doha, as well as transport to required excursions, is included in the program fee.

There are no prerequisites for this program. No prior knowledge of Arabic is required.
Cost & Scholarships
Program Cost
$6,468
This includes: Tuition, room and board, transit between the airport and the program site in Doha, as well as transport to required excursions, required cultural activities and excursions, and a metro card.
Not included: Airfare to and from Doha; incidental expenses of a personal nature.
For the CMU in Doha program, students will be billed the program cost via their CMU student account. Please refer to Student Financial Services for more information including payment options.
Study Abroad Scholarships
The Department of Languages, Cultures & Applied Linguistics, along with the Dietrich College of Humanities and Social Sciences, offers study abroad scholarships for students to study for a semester, full-year or summer overseas. All LCAL declared majors, and Arabic Studies minors, are guaranteed a departmental scholarship if they are in good academic standing with CMU. Scholarships can be put towards tuition, room and board, airfare and/or book expenses when participating in any accredited study abroad program. Learn more about scholarships.
Additionally, the Office of Undergraduate Research and Scholar Development offers two national and international fellowships and scholarships that students participating in the CMU in Doha program might be eligible for: the CMU Jennings Family Brave Companions Fund and the Benjamin A.
